Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. After relocating to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma was just six when she decided she wanted to become an actress. She was trained for many years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford where she was taught acting as well as singing. She had already performed in numerous Stagecoach or school shows by the time she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the movie version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was cast in the year 1999. Emma was initially discovered as a casting agent by her Oxford drama teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been chosen for these parts. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first screen appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's debut in the year 2001. The movie set records on the opening weekend and sales, and it was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Reviewers praised the film, and especially those who were young. The Daily Telegraph, a popular British paper, praised her for her outstanding performance. Emma's performance was recognized and won five awards later for the film.
